Vision StatementDiaconateOur minister, Rev Mark Jennings is the primary leader of Pershore Baptist Church. Deacons assist Mark in the running of the church. Leaders are accountable to the members of the church and the will of the church meeting. Of course there are many others involved in leading the church, housegroup leaders play a vital role as do Juniour Church leaders who lead the childrens' sessions that run alongside our family worship on Sunday. To support the Minister as much as possible, helping and encouraging him in effective leadership of the Church. 2. To assist the Minister in enabling the Church to fulfil its Mission Statement. 3. To assist the Minister in the day to day management and administration of the Church by undertaking the stewardship of various areas of responsibility when called upon to do so. 4. To be a positive and clear example to the Church in fulfilling the responsibilities and privileges of membership. 5. To pray for the life of the Church and encourage all to spend time with God in reading the Bible and praying. 6. To attend two Deacons meetings per month (currently first and third Thursday). One is a prayer meeting, the other a business meeting, although there is rightly an overlap between the two. 7. To attend occasional Saturday reflection days, organised either 'in house' or by HEBA and other wider Church links. 8. To support Church events that take place outside of Sunday, including ecumenical gatherings. 9. To serve as duty deacon on an agreed rota incorporating morning and evening Services. (Responsibilities to be identified separately.) 10. To attend the Sunday Morning Pre-Service Prayer meeting. 11. To be around and available before and after Services welcoming and befriending visitors and those on their own not speaking to anyone. (Encouraging people to sign the visitors book and write an address means that they can be contacted shortly afterwards.) 12. To join the Minister at the front to pray for people, notably when welcoming new members, at dedications and baptisms etc. 13. To deal with problems as they are raised with us (this may be simply ensuring that the Minister is aware of the situation or passing it on to someone else who can help). 14. To let the Church Secretary and /or Minister know if you are going to be unavoidably absent for a Deacons or Church Meeting. |
